Traveler to Halong bay of course need to take a cruise on this magic bay. Depend on your time you can see as much as you want. A 1 day cruise or 3,4 days could do. Here are some suggestions:

For 1 day cruise you should see Thien cung grotto and Dau go grotto, after that stop at Titop beach for a swim or kayaking and return home
For 2 days cruise Sung sot grotto and Trinh nu grotto could do. Sleeping in a cruise is a very enjoyable experience.
For 3,4 days cruise traveler could explore Cat ba island which is a reserved national forest.

Although Halong city is small and there's not much activity you could still enjoy a dolphin show at Tuan Chau island or a tradditional music show in the Royal park.
